The Santa Barbara Museum of Art

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art is the heart of the art and cultural area of the Downtown District, truly a gem of the community. GWMC was honored to be a part of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art project; a recently completed, multi-year, multi-phase renovation and seismic upgrade project for which Gregg served as the owner’s representation and project manager.

There was a multitude of specialty consultants, contractors, and design teams to work with, along with interfacing with the Museum’s Board of Directors. The project approvals and entitlements for the 100-year-old facility took over 3 years to obtain, and the construction ran for 5 years in the historically sensitive El Pueblo Viejo district of Santa Barbara.

The project work included significant helical pile foundation work, shotcrete exterior wall reinforcement, significant structural upgrades, and state-of-the-art climate and lighting systems.
